Whirlpool Refrigerator Complaints

Are you in the market for a refrigerator? Are you thinking about getting a whirlpool brand? Before you do, read this Whirlpool Refrigerator Complaints I was able to research on the web. This will help you in your decision if you need and must buy a new fridge and you are inclined to get a whirlpool refrigerator.

I was planning to get one myself but I read about the Whirlpool Refrigerator Complaints and now I’m having second thoughts. Whirlpool have several issues with their refrigerator. From my point of view, they are having issues with the quality control and the customer service they provide. Check out some of the issues I was able to read about. Yes I said some because the list goes a long long way and it will consume the better part of my day just to go through them.
One of the recurring Whirlpool Refrigerator Complaints I kept seeing is their Ice maker. Their ice maker either won’t work or it will leak causing a lot of mess and damage. On customer was not able to use the ice maker and water dispenser at all because the fridge was delivered without the ice maker and the water dispenser connected and even if they made several complaints to customer service nothing happened. This customer ended up complaining to the consumer’s court.

Another recurring complaint is that the fridge won’t cool. Fancy getting a refrigerator that will not cool. Now that is a problem indeed. A lot of complaint come from water leaking from the fridge, from the front or back area. These customer’s are complaining with the customer service but they are not getting the help and support they need.
There is also a complaint on getting a low voltage electric shock on the lower part of the door for their fridge. This customer complained to the customer service and they did send in technicians. The technicians were not able to do anything and the supervisor told them that low electric voltage will not harm them. It’s a stupid way of saying, we can’t do anything about it, and you have to no choice but keep it.

Another issue they have is their parts are burning. Yes, burning. Plastics parts melting, compressor valve burning and catching fire. I think that Whirlpool needs to look at their product’s quality and the safety of their user more thoroughly. This issue can cause lives and property.

I shared this Whirlpool Refrigerator Complaints with you so you as consumers are aware of the issues that may arise. I hope I was able to help you out.

  1. I do not recommend anyone buying a whirlpool fridge. Mine is 5 months old and I have had the freezer door replaced once, and waiting on a new one, as a plastic piece continues to pop out of the interior door, overfreezing my freezer and ice bin, in turn causing the ice not to dispense, and probably was the cause of the fridge getting warm, which in turn caused the computer to go bad. I have also replaced 2 water filters, because the water tastes very dirty. No luck on good tasting water. While waiting for our 2nd new door, our ice bin is sitting in our backyard defrosting.

  2. I, too, do not recommend buying a Whirlpool refrigerator. We have had to spend almost $900 in the last six months on a fairly new one. Most of the repairs have been to the ice maker. Has anyone had any success in getting Whirlpool to provide reimbursement for unduly expensive repairs?

  3. I bought a side by side Whirlpool in 11/26/10. In 12/5/2011, one week after the warranty was up the compressor burnt out due to a defective component, a relay controller. Many Whirlpool and Maytag refrigerators with this fautly component have actually caused fires, I’ve read. Lowe’s and Whirlpool will not help me since the warranty is up (by a freakin week!) I’m looking for a class action suit to come up some time.

  4. I have checked all that I know to do, I cannot find the manuel that came with the refrigerator. the freezer is just find, the bottom is not functioning at all. The temperature. please help.

  5. Our Whirlpool side by side model #ED5PVEXWS02 after 14 months the compressor died. Of course on New Years Eve! When we called all over looking for someone who could look at it we finally got someone at 5:30 that evening. He came out and after checking relays, fans ect.. found the compressor to be dead. Not only dead but undersized for this size of refrigerator. We had sent one other frige back to Lowe’s because it was too loud. When we got this one we decided to keep it even though it was just as loud. We got worn down by the double talk. Makes me think this model has a small compressor in all of them hence the loud noise of running all the time. It wore it self out. We called Whirlpool and were told a supervisor would call us back.Alex from Whirlpool called us back and asked a lot of questions and got the phone number of the folks we contacted. She made it sound like they would replace the compressor and we would pay for the instalation. Which we would have been happy to do. WHen we called our service person they said that Alex had called to verify what was wrong. When we contacted Whirlpool again we spoke to a Donna who basically read us a prepared statement that they would not be able to help un because it was out of the one year warranty. When we asked why then did Alex call the repair service and act to us like Whirpool would help us out she started talking in circles and refused to transfer us to or even leave a message for Alex the supervisor. You would think that a company the size of Whirpool would not hesitate in helping out one of its customers whos product they had purchased did not live up to standards. So much for customer service from another big greedy company- No more Whirlpools appiances in this house ever again!

  6. WHIRLPOOL PRODUCT=====I bought a separate Whirlpool refrigerator/freezer unit. My refrigerator unit broke down a day after my warranty was done. It was a faulty mfg. due to the seal went out and freon gas leaked. Now my freezer side went out. I also had to replace my Whirlpool ice maker 2 times due to faulty workmanship. I spoke to Yzette McCoy at 866-817-5404 x6775. She said that the appliances today are only good at an average of 10 years. I mentioned to her that I have other appliances that are not Whirlpool mfg. and they at 17 years old with never a problem. I know that I will NOT BUY ANOTHER WHIRLPOOL product or appliance mfg. by WHIRLPOOL again! Expensive and you don’t get your moneys worth
