Whirlpool Refrigerators Troubleshooting

Whirlpool refrigerators are quite reliable, however over time it is possible that something may go wrong or need maintaining. Before calling out an expensive repairman it is possible to try some Whirlpool refrigerators troubleshooting.

If there is a problem with the temperature check the controls then check the vents to make sure they are not blocked. Problems with the water dispenser could be due to the valve, make sure it was installed correctly.

With Whirlpool refrigerators troubleshooting, icemakers often cause some problems; remember that icemakers need about a day on average to produce ice. If your icemaker is not producing ice after a couple of days, check the water pipe is switched on and that there is enough water pressure.

If the water is discolored or has a funny taste, run the icemaker a couple times, throwing the ice away to see if this clears the problem. Alternatively get a water filter fitted. Check the shutoff arm, which flips up when enough ice has been made; maybe the arm has flipped even though there isn’t enough ice.

Another reason that ice isn’t being made could be the temperature of the freezer. If the freezer is too warm then it will not be able to make ice. To get an accurate measurement of the temperature put a cup of cooking oil in your freezer with a thermometer. Leave it overnight then check the temperature. Anything above 30 degrees Fahrenheit is too warm.

One of the most obvious things to do, but is often overlooked, is making sure the power supply is hooked up. It could be that your refrigerator plug was somehow disconnected.

This Whirlpool refrigerators troubleshooting will help you with basic problems, however do not do anything that you are not sure of. Embarking on repairs without the correct experience and knowledge could result in expensive repairs in the long run.

Also make sure you read your warranty to check that tampering with the fridge will not make it void. Also by checking the warranty you can see if you are covered for repairs should anything go wrong with the refrigerator.
